I am first and foremost a mother of four children. It is by far my proudest accomplishment. Nurturing a human being is a combination of teacher, caregiver, healer, and coach. Second I have been a community organizer leading my community in a five year long battle with powerful interests that sought to deprive us of our fundamental human and constitutional rights. I founder two grassroots community organizations StopMCS and Protect Orange County and was elected as Chair of both. In that capacity I have been an advocate for both political and regulatory reform. My work has also intersected with the field of public health. I was the lead local organizer for a citizen science campaign that developed a groundbreaking study on health impacts from chemical exposure to gas infrastructure faclities. In the mid-90s I was a small business owner with my husband in the IT sector and we owned one of the first internet providers in the Town of Narrowsburg. Prior to that I was a union organizer.

As a Mom of four children, motherhood has provided me with an effective framework through which to assess public policy. WhenI look a policy decisions I ask myslef how does it impact our children. How does it impact their future. It's been a reliable litmus test and standard that best serves the public interest. This is one of the reasons why I have worked so hard to protect our environment and fight climate change. Clean air and clean water are human rights. Our children deserve a livable planet where they can not only survive but thrive.
My work as a community organizer taught me how to listen, organize, mobilize, and advocate. It taught me that the role of a leader is to amplify the voices of others. I have workek tirelessly and relentlessly for my community and will work tirelessly for this district.
I believe that public policy must serve the will and the aspirations of the people and not billion dollar corporations and special interests. Most importantly I believe in the rights of communities to be self-determined.
I also believe that the bigges threat to our district is corruption, which is why I will fight to implement meaningful ethics reform.
